Rachel Magege
Data Governance, Pollicy Data Institute
Rachel Magege is a lawyer from the United Republic of Tanzania. She holds expertise in data protection law, investment law, alternative dispute resolution (ADR), digital and tech law, and regional data governance frameworks in Africa.
She currently works in project development and implementation, with focus on data governance work to improve data protection policies, legal frameworks and practices across Africa. Outside of work, Rachel sits on the Board of Directors under the Tanzania Privacy Professionals Association LTD.
She is a well-versed legal author, public speaker, scholarly reviewer and developing expert in mediation and arbitration, holding certification in Fundamentals of Effective Negotiation from the Ministry of Justice in the United Kingdom. Notably, Rachel also serves under the Tanzania Women Lawyers Association (TAWLA) and the inaugural Data Protection and Privacy Committee of the East Africa Law Society (EALS).
